WORDS

Below are the lyrics to all the songs on Pull It Down.

The Ride

This is our only reward
This is what we've waited for
Dancing through greenery, we see only gray
'cause the night stole the colors
and leads us away to play

Let me take you where I like

The hidden tale in our demented dance
reveals life gives you but one true chance
to shine beyond the clay that we are

This is their final reward
Respect means nothing to the bored
The silence they offer
The light that we give
We dance in their honor
We dance so that they may live

Let me take you where I like

The hidden tale in our demented dance
reveals life gives you but one true chance
to shine beyond the clay that we are

This is how we get off big
As the lively haunts of our favorite digs
After Woody's closes
And we're left with nowhere to go
A short drive down Hillside lies our second home

Let me take you where I like

The hidden tale in our demented dance
reveals life gives you but one true chance
to shine beyond the clay that we are

This is our only reward
This is what we've waited for
Dancing through greenery, we see only gray
'cause the night stole the colors
and leads us away to play

Let me take you on a ride

In silence we play for we have no tomorrows
as they have no todays.

Wet

It would be too revealing
And show what I wish to hide
If I were to make that mistake
If I shut my eyes

Look in my eyes to see my surprise
But catch my soul before it splashes the dust again

The soul flows
Leaving a trail where it's been
Orb so soft, round and wet
Blurs the light into stars

The soul flows
Out from the window of life

It would be too revealing
And show what I wish to hide
The water pools on the stone
Leaving salt when it dries

Look in my eyes to see my surprise
But catch my soul before it splashes the dust again

The soul flows
Leaving a trail where it's been
Orb so soft, round and wet
Blurs the light into stars

It would be too revealing
And show what I wish to hide
If were to make that mistake
If I shut my eyes

The soul flows
Out from the window of life

It would be too revealing
And show what I wish to hide
The water pools on the stone
Leaving salt when it dries

Look in my eyes to see my surprise
But catch my soul before it splashes the dust again

The soul flows
Out from the window of life
Orb so soft, round and wet
Blurs the light into stars

Trust

Stamped under foot, trampled down
and not allowed to grow
My faith in man, my faith in you
I no longer know

What to think why should I care
Why should I take a chance
My trust in you has led me to this one-legged dance
And it's gone

I have always seen myself
as a trusting sort of man
The kind who gives of himself as he can

But I see now if I am to keep myself alive
My trust in you and your like must first slowly die
And it's gone

Trust is dead
Long live indifference
Trust is dead
Along with my dignity

Stamped under foot, trampled down
and not allowed to grow
My faith in man, my faith in you
I no longer know

What to feel why should I care
Why should I take a chance
My trust in you has led me to this one-legged dance
And it's gone

Trust is dead
Long live indifference
Trust is dead
Along with my dignity

Long live indifference
Along with my dignity

Pull It Down

Put your faith in me, I'll reach right up and grab the sun
Pull it down
So you can look more closely
I'll pull it down

I ignore the fire that burns my arms in that embrace
And the heat will blind my eyes and sear my flesh
Pull it down

Now we have light to see the gifts that we've exchanged
You now hold the sun and I am left with pain

Put your faith in me I'll reach right up and take the stars
One by one I'll pull them down
Each one a shining jewel glistening in your crown

And the heavens weep in darkness at their loss
But it's me who did the crime and will pay the cost
To pull them down
Pull it down

Now we have light to see the gifts that we've exchanged
You now hold the sun and I am left with pain

Put your faith in me I'll reach right up and grab the sun
Pull it down
So you can look more closely
I'll pull it down
Pull it down

Bang On Your Drum

On my side of the street, a man shouts at a large group of people waiting to be taken away
He shouts, he screams, he hails, he shrieks, but no one turns an ear his way
And as I am almost past, he turns to me, he looks me right in the eye, and whispers

I want to bang on your drum

Lend me your ear, I've got something to say
I'll give you an earful I'll give you a heart full
Words have always cut like a sword
But a hammer pounds harder with less chance of being ignored ..... i
gnored, drum!

I want to bang on your drum

Lend me your ear, I've got something to say
I'll give you an earful I'll give you a heart full
My words have always cut like a sword
But a hammer pounds harder with less chance of being ignored ..... i
gnored, drum!

I stand on a high place shouting out at about twenty or thirty plastic glasses of beer
I shout, I scream, I hail, I shriek, but no one turns an ear my way
So I jump down off the stage and grab the arm of a young man who's turned to leave, and I whisper, right in his ear

I want to bang on your drum

Lend me your ear, I've got something to say
I'll give you an earful I'll give you a heart full
My words have always cut like a sword
But a hammer pounds harder with less chance of being ignored ..... i
gnored, drum!

The Letter

I'd like to write a letter, I'd like to make it clear
About the way I feel, about the way I care
But when I speak with ink, my hand falls deaf and mute
But when I speak with ink, the pen runs dry

My hand betrays, my hand betrays me
My hand betrays, and will not speak the truth

I've used all kinds of paper, I've tried ink, blood and lead
But the letter still escapes me and my words remain unsaid
But if you should listen, you still might catch a glimpse
Of the letter I would have written as it falls off my lips

My hand betrays, my hand betrays me
My hand betrays, and will not speak the truth

I'd like to write a letter, I'd like to make it clear
About the way I feel, about the way I care
But when I speak with ink, my hand falls deaf and mute
But when I speak with ink, the pen runs dry

I've tried all kinds of paper I've used ink, blood and lead...

Acoustic Flash

I'm compelled to touch you but it's not my place
I don't know how I feel about never seeing you again
And will my memory fade, as days go by?

The sun in your eyes
Creeping crossed your features
Why do I want to shade your eyes?

Such a lovely place to find yourself on such a beautiful day
If I were to touch you would you awake?
And will my memories fade, as days go by?

The sun in your eyes
Creeping crossed your features
Why do I want to shade your eyes?

Such a lovely place to find yourself on such a beautiful day
If I were to touch you would you awake?
And will my memories fade, as days go by?

The sun in your eyes
Creeping crossed your features
Why do I want to shade your eyes?

My anger rips through me and I almost cry out!
Our time here is so fragile as we are so mortal

The sun in your eyes
Creeping crossed your features
Why do I want to shade your eyes?

Such a lovely place to find yourself on such a beautiful day
If I were to touch you, would you awake?
